What is Dit Da Jow?

Dit Da Jow is a traditional herbal preparation from Chinese martial arts culture. The name is usually translated as “fall hit wine”. Historically, martial arts schools made their own jow and rubbed it on after hard training. Today our students use ours as an invigorating herbal massage liquid. It is not a medicine.

At Wing Chun Halesowen our Dit Da Jow is made using a traditional method: the herbs are steeped in alcohol and the liquid is aged for months.

How to Use Dit Da Jow

Start by placing a small amount in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together, then massage it into the skin in a steady circular motion. Keep the skin wet but not dripping.

You can use it before or after training. A small pool in the hand is enough for one area. Adjust as you like.

For external use only. Do not drink. Avoid contact with eyes and broken skin. Patch test on a small area first. Stop using if irritation occurs. Keep out of reach of children. Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Alcohol-based and flammable: keep away from flames. Wash your hands after use. If you have a known skin condition or any allergies, test a small amount on your forearm first and wait a short time to ensure it suits your skin. Store the bottle in a cool, dry place.

How long does a bottle last?

Most students find that a single bottle lasts several months with regular use. If you apply it only after training, it will last even longer. Those who train daily or use it on larger areas of the body may go through a bottle a little sooner.

Can I use this outside martial arts?

It is a general-purpose herbal massage liquid for the skin. It is not a medicine, so please see your GP or pharmacist about aches, pain or injuries.

Is it suitable for children?

It is intended for adults. Keep out of reach of children.

What is the difference between the formulas?

Each formula has a slightly different blend of herbs. Dit Da Jow is our everyday formula; Iron Palm Dit Da Jow is the one our students use around deliberate hand and forearm conditioning; the 50/50 is a mix of both.

Where is it made?

Ours is made in-house in Halesowen, using a traditional method where herbs are steeped in alcohol and the liquid is aged for months.

Trust and Authority

I’ve trained and taught for over thirty-five years. Our Dit Da Jow is made by hand in our Halesowen centre, following a recipe passed down our Wing Chun lineage — from my Sifu, Shaun Rawcliffe, who received it from Ip Chun.

Every batch is made slowly in Halesowen. The herbs are steeped for months before bottling.

This is a traditional herbal massage liquid, not a medicine. If you have an injury, ongoing pain or a medical condition, please see your GP or pharmacist.
